I have been off the grid for a couple of weeks, and it was aMAZing. I didn’t touch my phone for at least a day, maybe two. (Taking longer phone vacations is in my 2014 plan so I can focus more on live action!) I didn’t post or write one thing, so my apologies for the hiatus! My family was here, and we celebrated Christmas, my nephew’s one-year birthday, snowmobiled and boarded, and did our annual Winter Olympics–which consisted of a few events like outdoor ping pong, water pong, and lip syncing. I would show you some live footage of the lip syncing, but my family strictly prohibited it. What happens in Donnelly stays in Donnelly. So here are some still shots.
On the lift.
About to go sledding. Doesn’t he just melt your heart??
Snowmobiling. We got those hats from Columbia (for free!) right before we did a team duatholon a few years ago. Love ’em.
We are next on the Voice.
And don’t ask. I laughed extremely, extremely hard.
So now you have an idea of my time away, our chance to make some changes to our lives happens today! Why, you ask?
Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Wisdom from Proverbs 29:18.
I must have a picture of what I want my life to look like in the upcoming year, a vision for every facet of my life. Where we have goals, we have a start, but where we hook up our vision with the Creator of our life, we flourish. If our vision is synonymous with His plans, we will kick butt and take names. With vision comes purpose. . Take some time and dream with God…it’s life-changing. I heard some great advice yesterday: take time to pray and contemplate, and write down one word that could describe all of your goals. One word to sum it allll up. I have one word for a few different facets; I’m just not a one-word type of gal. It’s too general to say “grow,” but honestly, that would be my one word vision for 2014. grow.
Here’s a quick and general breakdown. I actually have a quite extensive list, but I’m giving a snapshot of pieces.
Fitness/Health goals? My word is Maui.. My parents have been saving for a while, and are taking us kids to Maui. Yeah! So I am (actually we are) eating super clean, right after this cookie. (Seriously, though, keep your eyes peeled for good recipes.) And I am going to be disciplined in consistent exercise.
My marriage vision? Light From Proverbs 31:12: She comforts, encourages, and does him only good as long as there is life within her. (Proverbs 31:12 AMP). I will shine my light in my own home, and keep things light (not heavy) and fun. We are going to do a “vision retreat” soon. I bought us all this book…and we’ll take a weekend to hear from God and really map out the different visions for our marriage. We always have goals in work and health, so why not our marriages?
Relationships vision? availability. I need to be open and available.
Spiritual vision? I am going to use my gifts more deliberately, and grow in grace and knowledge. (2 Peter 3:18). I also am going to spend more time with my Papa God. My connection to Him is where all my other visions come from. In this place I cannot fail because He does not fail. In this place I am sustained and upheld.
How about you? Could you sum up your vision for all areas with one word? Or maybe a word per facet (ie. marriage, family, children, work, health, spiritual)? I encourage you to start the New Year not just with a goal, but a with a vision, so all your decisions and time spent are a credit to your path. In this, we will flourish!
