Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. (1 Corinthians 13:7-8 AMP)
I absolutely adore this one. With Valentine’s day just around the corner, I am reminded (I know it sounds cheesy!) that we have the perfect valentine in Jesus. Read the passage again. What does that mean for us?
His love bears up under anything. God will NEVER ever give up on us. No matter what. There is nothing we will do that will cause Him to throw in the cards, and say, “Well this one is a lost cause.” Nope, never. He will never love us more or less than He does right now. When we feel full, when we feel isolated, when we do something good, when we make a bad choice–His love for us is beyond measure…it is so big it surpasses our comprehension.
He is ready to believe the best of every person. God doesn’t speculate. He doesn’t assume things about anyone. He sees and believes the best in all of us. He sees our glorious potential and sings over us He is so happy with us! He sees your good qualities, and beams over you.
His hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and He endures everything without weakening. Jesus is always hopeful. Under any circumstance, His hopes in us never fade, dim, or wear out. (I love that.) God’s knees are never weak, and He doesn’t even know how to worry (so why should we??). He endures everything. He isn’t biting on a leather strap trying to endure us, with sweat trickling down His brow. That’s how I picture enduring–a struggle of the utmost. God endures, or waits patiently (with joy) and remains the same (He is love, it is a constant), without ever weakening. Regardless of where we are, who we’ve been, God has high hopes of us, He is patient and kind with us. Good, eh?
Love NEVER fails. It never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end. Man I love this, too. It softens my heart so much. It makes me oh so thankful. Never is a strong word. A superlative, and not an exaggeration but a fact. The bible says God’s love never fails. I really like those odds! It never dims, fades, or expires. God’s love will last forever. There is no fine print, no expiration date, no hoops to jump through. It won’t change tomorrow. In fact tomorrow, His love will still be so big that it literally cannot be measured. It is higher than heaven, wider than the entire universe, and deeper than the depths of our hearts.
Jesus says, “Be mine,” with arms outstretched, with a love for us that is perfect, and a hope that takes us to great, amazing places. This love never fails. Trust this, let it penetrate the walls and fill up your heart and mind. Happy almost Valentine’s Day–and know you are loved every day.
